Our story begins with Henry the rooster who found refuge at And-Hof in the nick of time before being snatched away by a neighborhood force that had very little tolerance for his daily, ear-piercing, before-sunrise-wake-up crows. Who would have thought that within a few years, what began with Henry and his favorite hen Henrietta’s arrival would evolve into a farm animal rescue sanctuary with more than 200 animals of all different species! Our passion for animals has transformed the picturesque beauty of the forest into a nurturing, safe haven where abused and neglected farm animals, both from domestic homes and industrial farms, can live a free and peaceful life. Our commitment to rehabilitating injured and abused animals is at the heart of our mission, in combination with the holistic philosophy of permaculture to create a sustainable environment for people, animals, and nature. The gyros carving knife was waiting for Moritz, but then he took a detour to And-Hof Animals…
The welcome crew!
One of our handsome roosters.
The old soul, Pumbah, was left behind by his previous owner when they moved and couldn’t take him to their new place. He was very sad at first, but the responsibility of teaching the ropes to a youngster, gave him a new lease on life.
One of 128 wild Turkeys from Staten Island that were supposed to get culled until we, with the help of the Human Society and Goosewatch NYC, negotiated a deal that would bring them from the sandy beaches of Staten Island to Catskill Mountains in the Hudson Valley.
